Expanding College & Career Pathways
To support student success, I expanded college access through bold partnerships with Rio Hondo College and Pasadena City College, enabling our students to earn college credit while still in high school. I will continue expanding access to higher education by strengthening career-pathway preparation, aligning rigorous coursework with real-world skills, and ensuring every student graduates college-ready and equipped to pursue meaningful careers.
Strengthening academic and
mental health support
To better support our students, I championed the creation of wellness centers across our campuses to provide on-site mental health care, counseling, and restorative supports; expanded the Board to include two Student Board Members to amplify youth voice in policymaking; and strengthened services for parents and families through our Family and Community Engagement Center, offering outreach, resources, and workshops that connect families to academics, health services, and community partners so every student can thrive.
Completing Critical School Improvements
One of my priorities is completing the critical improvements our schools need and making sure the community’s investment is carried through responsibly. That means finishing major facility and modernization projects, addressing aging infrastructure, and improving classrooms, athletic facilities, technology, and student spaces across the District. As a trustee, I believe strong oversight, transparent decision-making, and careful management of bond and capital funds are essential to keeping projects on track and protecting taxpayer resources. I will continue focusing on completing these projects responsibly so that students and staff have safe, modern, and well-maintained campuses that can serve our communities for years to come.
Protecting the District’s long-term financial stability
Protecting the District’s long-term financial stability means making responsible decisions today so that our schools remain strong for years to come. I believe in careful budgeting, maintaining healthy reserves, planning for enrollment and funding changes, and ensuring every dollar aligns with student needs and the District’s long-term priorities. Fiscal responsibility also means investing wisely in our employees, facilities, academic programs, technology, and student support services without creating obligations the District cannot sustain. By taking a disciplined, transparent, and forward-looking approach to budgeting, we can protect essential programs, avoid unnecessary cuts, and ensure that future boards inherit a District that is financially sound and prepared to meet the needs of the next generation of students.
Protecting Students and Our Community from ICE
Protecting our students takes leaders willing to show up, speak out, and act when families are afraid. In August 2025, I joined Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi and education leaders from across Los Angeles County to stand with immigrant students and families and call for stronger protections for California’s public schools. As a school board trustee, I have treated this as a responsibility of office: supporting clear protections, reliable information for families, and policies that put student safety and access to education first. I have been willing to take a public stand when it matters, and I will continue working to ensure that every student in our District knows they are welcome, protected, and able to focus on their future.
